The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques extends his patronage to "Gulf 27"

Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the neighboring Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the matches of the 27th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup (“Khaleeji 27”) will kick off in Jeddah on the 23rd of this month. The Kingdom will host the tournament until October 6, with eight national teams competing in 15 matches, as announced by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

On this occasion, Minister of Sport and Chairman of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his gracious patronage of this major Gulf sporting event.

In a statement to the press, His Highness said, “The patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the 27th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup embodies the generous support and attention afforded to the sports sector by our wise leadership, reflecting their continuous care for sports and athletes, and their support for the Kingdom’s hosting of prominent sporting events and competitions. It also underscores their commitment to strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and love among the peoples of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.”

He added, “This tournament is a cherished sporting occasion for people in the region, given its history and special status in the trajectory of Gulf sports, and the deep-rooted brotherly ties it represents. We are delighted in the Kingdom to welcome our brothers once again in an edition that gains particular significance due to its coincidence with the Kingdom’s National Day, a dear occasion with which we take pride in sharing the joy with our Gulf brothers. We look forward to a tournament befitting its stature and history, and we wish the participating teams success, and the Gulf fans an enjoyable experience of distinctive matches in Jeddah.”

The tournament matches will be held at King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City, amid comprehensive organizational and operational preparations by the Local Organizing Committee to receive the teams, fans, and media. These preparations include the readiness of stadiums and facilities, match operations, transportation, and logistical services, alongside various ancillary services for the tournament.

Notably, the Arabian Gulf Cup is being held in Jeddah for the first time in the tournament’s history.
