Dima Bayaa: My role in "A'az Al-Nas" is different

Artist Dima Bayaa revealed new details about her character in the series “A’azz Al-Nas,” emphasizing that the role represents a departure from the characters she has portrayed previously and is filled with surprises that unfold as the story progresses. In an interview, Dima Bayaa explained that she plays the character “Layla,” a narcissistic mother who is entirely different from her in real life. She noted that the only common ground between them is their deep love for their children, although the way this love is expressed differs.

Dima described Layla as “very narcissistic,” explaining that the character always believes she is right and considers herself the best judge of her children’s interests. She treats them as her possessions, even after they have grown up. Dima suggested that narcissism may not arise without cause, but could be linked to experiences and traumas endured during childhood. She pointed out that while drama often addresses such issues, it does not always delve into their root causes.

In a conversation with “Fawasia,” Dima Bayaa expressed her happiness at collaborating with actor Bassem Yakhour, describing him as a distinctive partner. This marks their first collaboration in the series “A’azz Al-Nas,” where they play the roles of a married couple: Layla and Najib.

Dima declined to reveal details about the fate of the marital relationship between the two characters, preferring to keep their developments as surprises within the series. She also refrained from disclosing whether any of Layla’s children would be affected by her narcissistic personality and become a version of her.

The series brings together Dima Bayaa with Masa Al-Jamal and Husam Salama, who portray her sons, within a narrative focused on the mother-children relationship and the resulting conflicts, tensions, and family dynamics.
