Bahrain condemns the targeting of Saudi Arabia's oil pipeline: a blatant violation of international law and principles of good neighborliness

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the targeting of the East-West oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions by several drones launched from Iraq, which resulted in human casualties and material damage. It characterized this act as a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness, and as an attack on vital civilian infrastructure that threatens energy supply security.

In a statement, the Ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that the latter’s security and stability are an integral part of Bahrain’s own security and stability. It stressed Saudi Arabia’s right to take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, infrastructure, citizens, and residents in accordance with international law, and expressed wishes for the swift recovery of the injured.

The Ministry underscored the necessity of refraining from using any country’s territory as a launching point for attacks on neighboring states. It reaffirmed its support for the efforts undertaken by the Republic of Iraq to prevent the recurrence of such attacks, and called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in confronting these hostile attacks aimed at undermining energy security and destabilizing regional peace and stability.
