GCC Condemns Drone Attack on East-West Pipeline in Saudi Arabia Originating from Iraq

Jassim Mohamed Al-Bedaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), strongly condemned the targeting of the East-West oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by several drones launched from Iraqi territory, which resulted in human casualties and material damage.

In a statement, Al-Bedaiwi affirmed that this attack constitutes a serious escalation and an unacceptable threat to the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its territorial integrity, and its vital facilities. He described it as a blatant violation of the principles of international law, emphasizing the GCC’s firm rejection of all acts targeting the security, stability, and national assets of the Kingdom.

The Secretary-General stressed the importance of the Iraqi government making further efforts and taking necessary and resolute measures to prevent its territory from being used as a launching pad for such attacks, and to halt them and prevent their recurrence, thereby contributing to preserving regional security and stability and sparing the region from further escalation.

The GCC Secretary-General reiterated the Council’s unwavering and full support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its complete backing of all measures and steps taken by the Kingdom to protect its security, stability, territorial integrity, vital facilities, citizens, and residents on its soil.
