Bahrain and Oman Foreign Ministers Discuss Efforts to Restore Maritime Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz

Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani held a telephone conversation on Friday with his Omani counterpart, Badr Al Busaidi, to discuss the latest regional developments. The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the two sides discussed efforts to restore maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in a manner that safeguards the security and safety of waterways in accordance with the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, while protecting the interests of the countries of the region and the world. They also exchanged views on issues and matters of mutual interest. The call reviewed the close historical fraternal relations between the two countries and their brotherly peoples, and ways to develop them at all levels, which would elevate them to broader horizons in service of shared interests and objectives. They also discussed coordination and consultation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman during the Kingdom’s non-permanent membership on the United Nations Security Council.
