"Healthcare": Over 48 billion pounds in investments to develop health infrastructure in Minya... and comprehensive services for approximately 7 million citizens in 9 centers

The General Authority for Healthcare announced that investments in the development of healthcare infrastructure in Minya Governorate exceed EGP 48 billion, as part of the Egyptian state’s efforts to develop the healthcare sector in the governorate, enhance the efficiency of its facilities, and equip them. This comes in parallel with the trial operation of the new comprehensive health insurance system, which aims to provide integrated healthcare services to approximately 7 million residents across nine centers in the governorate.
The General Authority for Healthcare emphasized that Minya, as the first governorate in the second phase of implementing the comprehensive health insurance system, represents a key milestone in the geographic expansion of the system and in transferring the integrated healthcare model to millions of new beneficiaries. The governorate alone accounts for about 60% of the total targeted beneficiaries in the second phase.
The authority clarified that the second phase aims to benefit more than 12 million citizens in the governorates of Minya, Damietta, Matruh, Kafr El Sheikh, and North Sinai, reflecting the scale of the new expansion in applying the comprehensive health insurance system across the country.
The authority stressed that the substantial investments in healthcare infrastructure in Minya aim to bring about a qualitative leap in the governorate’s health capabilities through the development and equipping of health facilities, enhancing their efficiency, and boosting their capacity. This will enable the provision of health services that respond to citizens’ needs across all levels of care.
These investments include the development of hospitals, medical complexes, and family medicine centers and units, alongside supporting the necessary equipment and infrastructure for operations. This enhances the integration of healthcare services across different levels and ensures that citizens receive appropriate care according to their health needs.
The infrastructure development works are proceeding in parallel with the application of quality and accreditation standards, the completion of mechanization and digital transformation efforts, and the qualification of human resources. This ensures that facility development is integrated with the development of the operational system and the quality of services provided to citizens.
The authority noted that the trial operation of the comprehensive health insurance system in the governorate represents a new step in the expansion of integrated healthcare services, under a system that places citizens at the heart of healthcare and works to provide safe, high-quality services according to unified standards.
The media campaign “Know Your System,” aimed at raising awareness about the new comprehensive health insurance system in Minya Governorate, underscores the importance of informing citizens about the system’s components and services, as well as the investments underway to develop health infrastructure. These efforts support the availability of integrated, safe, and high-quality healthcare services for millions of citizens and reinforce the Egyptian state’s objectives of achieving universal health coverage and building a sustainable health system in line with Egypt Vision 2030.
