Egyptian and Turkish Foreign Ministers Discuss Regional Developments

Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan discussed bilateral relations and regional issues of mutual interest. During a telephone call, the two ministers also explored prospects for developing the partnership between Egypt and Turkey in the coming phase, reflecting the progress witnessed in relations between the two countries. They agreed to continue working to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation.

They also discussed follow-up on the implementation of understandings reached during the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, held in Cairo in February 2026, presided over by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two ministers emphasized the need to continue preparations for the next meeting of the Council, to be held in Turkey.

On the regional front, the ministers exchanged views on regional developments and stressed the importance of continuing Egyptian-Turkish coordination regarding crises affecting the region, intensifying efforts to de-escalate tensions and prevent their spread, and supporting political and diplomatic tracks that contribute to consolidating regional security and stability.
