Gold Holds Steady as Markets Eye US Consumer Price Index
Gold prices settled on Friday near their lowest level in a week, as investors awaited U.S. consumer price index data.
Spot gold was almost unchanged at $4,318.88 per ounce, after earlier hitting its lowest level since September 2.
Prices had fallen by about 2% on Thursday, following an expected rise in U.S. producer prices in August.
U.S. December gold futures fell 1.1% to $4,359.50 per ounce, according to Reuters.
In other precious metals, spot silver fell 0.1% to $63.48 per ounce, platinum was unchanged at $1,777.42, and palladium dropped 0.2% to $1,279.25.
