Kuwait Participates in the International Space Summit in Paris

Kuwait participated in the International Space Summit, whose two-day event kicked off in the French capital, Paris, under joint organization by France and Germany. The summit aimed to discuss the future of the space sector and enhance international cooperation in addressing its scientific, technological, economic, and environmental challenges.

The Kuwaiti delegation to the summit was led by Dr. Amna Farhan, Director General of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, and included Dr. Hala Al-Jassar, Director of the Kuwait National Center for Space Research, alongside a number of leaders, officials, and representatives from space agencies, scientific institutions, and specialized companies from more than 90 countries.

In his opening address, French President Emmanuel Macron called for intensified efforts to bolster European and international space capabilities and to develop space technology that serves the communications sector while enhancing space security and sustainability.

For her part, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the importance of unifying European efforts and expanding investment in the space sector to enhance competitiveness, security, and autonomy, while continuing international cooperation to ensure the safe and sustainable use of space.

The summit addressed three main pillars: developing the global space economy through international cooperation and supporting advances in science, technology, and space exploration; and enhancing space security through dialogue and partnerships.

Kuwait’s participation comes amid its focus on developing scientific research, building national capacities in space science and its applications, and strengthening engagement with specialized international institutions.
