Fifi Abdou: "I am envied... and the circumstances are harsh"

Artist Vivi Abdou revealed details of her injury following a sudden fall inside her home, explaining that the accident occurred after she woke up in the morning to find her house flooded with water, before she fell and sustained a fracture that required her transfer to the hospital.

During a phone call on the program “Tafasil,” Vivi Abdou clarified that doctors recommended surgery and the installation of plates and screws to treat the injury, but she refused to undergo the operation, preferring to rely on casting instead.

Vivi Abdou spoke about the evil eye and envy, emphasizing that artists may appear different to the public than their true reality, as a smile can conceal suffering and psychological pressures unseen by followers. She criticized the focus on the private and sensational aspects of artists’ lives, calling for attention to the experiences and pressures they endure rather than waiting for revelations about their lives after death. She said, “I wish people knew that an artist may smile in front of others while breaking down inside,” noting that many artists face significant psychological pressures without those around them noticing their struggles.

She added, “We only learn the truth about an artist after he dies and passes away, and we discover that he was suffering in life. No one asked about him, and no one paid attention to him,” stressing that psychological pressures can be harsh on artists during their lifetime.

Vivi Abdou also addressed her famous phrase “5 maweh” (five talents), explaining that her spontaneity and sincerity were the reasons for her connection with the audience and their continued attachment to her. The phrase came naturally from her and reflected her personality and feelings.

Previously, Vivi Abdou participated in last Ramadan’s season of the program “Alf Leila” on MBC Masr, in a comedic entertainment experience that relied on hosting a group of prominent stars from the artistic community.
