Arab condemnation of Netanyahu’s “illegal” entry into occupied lands in southern Syria

Several Arab countries condemned the provocative stance of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, particularly his entry into the occupied territories in southern Syria the day before yesterday. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s “strongest condemnation and denunciation of the illegal entry of the Prime Minister of the Israeli occupation government into the territory of the sister Arab Republic of Syria, in a blatant violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a flagrant breach of international law.” The Kingdom emphasized the importance of halting Israeli violations and transgressions against Syrian territory, and of adhering to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement to preserve regional security and stability, reiterating its support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria. In a statement, the ministry stressed the need to stop Israeli violations and transgressions against Syrian lands and to comply with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, which safeguards regional security and stability, reaffirming Saudi support for Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

For its part, Qatar strongly condemned Netanyahu’s illegal entry into Syrian territory and his crossing of international borders, describing it as a blatant infringement on the sovereignty of the Arab Republic of Syria, a serious violation of international law, and a grave threat to regional security. In a statement on Tuesday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to take urgent action to compel the Israeli occupation to comply with resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly the 1974 ceasefire agreement, and to halt its repeated aggressions against Syrian territory, thereby preventing further escalation and tension in the region. The ministry reiterated Qatar’s full support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and its solidarity with the brotherly Syrian people in their pursuit of security, stability, and prosperity.

Egypt also strongly condemned the repeated incursions by the Israeli occupation into Syrian territory, deeming them a blatant violation of Syrian state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and a clear breach of international law. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, affirmed Egypt’s complete rejection of all violations and incursions by the Israeli occupation into Syrian territory, warning that the continuation of such escalatory practices would exacerbate tensions and undermine security and stability in the region. It reiterated its full solidarity with Syria and its support for its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the necessity of the occupation’s withdrawal from occupied Syrian lands and compliance with the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Netanyahu had conducted a tour a few days ago in the occupied part of Mount Hermon from the Syrian side overlooking Syria, Israel, and Lebanon, accompanied by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.
