African Ambassadors Accredited to Cairo Conduct Inspection Tour in the New Capital

Cairo - Khadija Hamouda and Nihad Imam: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, and Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the New Administrative Capital Urban Development Company, accompanied African ambassadors accredited to Cairo on a tour of the New Capital yesterday.

The tour aims to familiarize African diplomatic missions with the comprehensive urban and institutional development taking place in the New Capital, and to highlight the modern infrastructure, facilities, and advanced services it offers. It is part of a series of visits being arranged for ambassadors from various geographic regions to follow up on arrangements for the relocation of embassies and foreign missions to the diplomatic quarter.

The tour included an inspection of the current status of the governmental district, several key facilities and residential units in the New Capital, as well as the United Nations headquarters, the Wycombe Abbey School in the diplomatic quarter, and the headquarters of the African Export-Import Bank.

During the tour, Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty emphasized the Egyptian state’s commitment to providing all necessary facilitations and requirements for the work of foreign diplomatic missions in the New Capital. He stressed the highest priority given to the relocation of foreign missions to the New Capital, noting that the diplomatic quarter has been designed and equipped according to the latest standards, offering a comprehensive and modern working environment for embassies and international organizations. This reflects the broad developmental and urban transformation underway in Egypt. Various options, including purchase or lease, have been made available for the new mission headquarters, in line with the principle of reciprocity.

For his part, Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the New Administrative Capital Urban Development Company, outlined the facilitations and ongoing arrangements to support the relocation of foreign missions to the New Capital, highlighting the capabilities, services, modern facilities, and advanced technological infrastructure provided by the diplomatic quarter. He affirmed the continued work and close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to fulfill all requirements and enhance the readiness of the district to host embassies and international organizations, ensuring the best possible conditions for their operations.
