Foreign Ministry: Illegal entry of the occupation prime minister into Syrian territory is a blatant violation of its sovereignty

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed Kuwait’s strongest condemnation of the illegal entry of the Israeli occupation prime minister into the territory of the sister Arab Republic of Syria, in a blatant violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and a flagrant breach of international law. In a statement yesterday, the Ministry emphasized that the continued incursions and attacks by the Israeli occupation within Syrian territory constitute an escalation that undermines security and stability in the region.

The Foreign Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s full support for the independence and sovereignty of the sister Arab Republic of Syria over all its territory, and stressed the necessity for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities to halt these attacks and ensure compliance with relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, while reaffirming the need to respect the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

The Ministry also welcomed the decision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors to conclude consideration of the item on the implementation of the safeguards agreement in the sister Arab Republic of Syria, reflecting the results of positive cooperation between the Syrian side and the Agency.

In its statement, the Foreign Ministry affirmed that the adoption of the resolution by consensus represents an important step toward enhancing international confidence and supporting the Syrian Arab Republic’s efforts to develop its cooperation with international institutions, appreciating the Arab initiatives that contributed to reaching this decision.

It reiterated Kuwait’s steadfast support for Syria in its efforts toward recovery and reconstruction, and in extending its sovereignty over its entire territory, in order to achieve security and stability for the brotherly Syrian people.
