Kuwait Olympic team trains in Japan today

Kuwait officials announced that the national Olympic (under-23) football team began its training in Japan today in preparation for participation in the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. The “Blue Team” arrived in Japan yesterday afternoon and is preparing to compete in Group 3 alongside the national teams of Vietnam, Uzbekistan, and the Philippines. The Olympic squad will kick off its Asian Games campaign against Vietnam next Tuesday, followed by a match against Uzbekistan on Friday, and will conclude its group-stage fixtures with a game against the Philippines on the 22nd.

The head coach of the Olympic “Blue Team,” Spanish manager David Doniga, has been studying the opponents in Group 3 in recent days, working with his assistants on the technical staff to compile important observations and tactical notes. The national team departed the country the day before yesterday with a full squad, free from absences or injuries, following a final preparation period at the Abdulrahman Al-Bakr Stadium, located within the Football Association building.

In other news, the draw for the second edition of the Gulf Cup for Under-17 national teams, hosted by Qatar from the 16th of this month until November 4 next year, placed the national team in Group 2 alongside Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, and Yemen. Group 1 features the host nation Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain, and China. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, which will be played in a knockout format, with the Group 1 winner facing the Group 2 runner-up, and the Group 2 winner playing the Group 1 runner-up.
