“Naashii Al Quwa” Wins 7 Medals at the Conclusion of Its Participation in the Arab Championship

Our national athletics team concluded its participation in the 12th Arab Junior Athletics Championships for athletes under 18, held in Cairo, by winning seven medals in total: three gold, three silver, and one bronze.

Head coach of the junior athletics team, Dr. Nasser Al-Jarallah, told KUNA that the team’s participation in the current edition of the Arab Championships was “distinguished,” praising the achievements, medals, and new personal bests delivered by the players.

Al-Jarallah explained that the athletes secured seven medals, including two golds for Abdulrahman Al-Azmi in the long jump and triple jump, as well as a gold medal for Yasmeen Walid in the high jump.

He added that the team also won three silver medals for Abdulkarim Al-Hassan (hammer throw), Abbas Al-Nasser (pole vault), and Fahad Al-Dhafiri (long jump), the latter being the youngest competitor in the championships. Additionally, player Haider Al-Qattan won a bronze medal in the 100-meter race.

Al-Jarallah described the junior athletics team as “promising, comprising many talented players,” noting that they succeeded in winning medals and achieving good personal bests despite the strong competition and high level of the participating national teams at the Arab Championships.

The head coach affirmed that the National Teams Committee at the Athletics Federation, chaired by Falah Al-Ajmi, has a future plan to make this team “the cornerstone and core foundation” of the senior athletics team within three to four years, by focusing on training camps and bringing in top coaches to develop these athletes’ levels.

The championships, which kicked off last Sunday, featured 276 athletes representing 15 Arab countries: Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Libya, Djibouti, and Egypt.
