Acting Prime Minister: Strengthening Security and Defense Cooperation with Iraq and the US to Address Common Challenges
Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif chaired a meeting at Bayan Palace with delegations from the sister Republic of Iraq and the friendly United States of America, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jaraah Jaber Al-Ahmad, Deputy Minister of Interior Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahayb, representatives of the Ministry of Defense, and several diplomatic, security, and military leaders.
The delegation from the sister Republic of Iraq was led by Lieutenant General Abdulameer Al-Shamri, Director of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and included a number of officials and specialized leaders from the Iraqi side. The delegation from the friendly United States of America was led by Admiral Liam Collins, Commander of the Joint Task Force for Operation Inherent Resolve, and included a number of officials and specialized leaders from the American side.
At the outset of the meeting, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif welcomed the sister and friendly delegations. The meeting reviewed areas of joint cooperation and ways to enhance them, and discussed several topics of mutual interest, alongside exchanging views on regional developments and current events.
The meeting also addressed a number of security and defense files of mutual interest and the existing coordination among participating parties, which enhances integration and the exchange of expertise, and supports efforts aimed at consolidating security and stability in the region.
Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousif emphasized the importance of continuing consultation and coordination with the Iraqi and American sides, and enhancing security and defense cooperation to address common challenges in light of regional developments, in a manner that serves mutual interests and contributes to preserving the security and stability of the region.
