Damascus welcomes the Arab League's lifting of all sanctions on the Syrian state and its institutions

Syria welcomed the decision issued by the Council of the Arab League, which calls for the complete lifting of all political, economic, and social sanctions imposed on the Syrian state and its institutions, while maintaining sanctions on officials of the ousted regime.

In a statement yesterday, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the “historic decision” constitutes “an important step toward correcting the course and strengthening ties of joint Arab cooperation,” adding that it “consolidates mutual commitment to supporting efforts for economic recovery, reconstruction, and stability in Syria.”

The ministry also expressed its deep appreciation for the “brotherly efforts and constructive responsiveness that led to the adoption of this decision,” reaffirming Syria’s commitment to “enhancing Arab cooperation and its dedication to effective work with the Arab League to serve the common interests of the region and its peoples.”
