Lebanese Army: Israel committed 7,700 violations since the signing of the "Framework Agreement"

Beirut: The Lebanese Army command announced in a statement: “The continuation and escalation of attacks by the Israeli occupation, in tandem with brutal demolition and bombing operations in the south, leaves no room for doubt regarding its aggressive intentions, violates international law, threatens existing understandings and arrangements, hinders the Army’s efforts to establish stability, and constitutes a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and security.”

It added that the Lebanese Army has expressed full readiness to fulfill its commitments since the signing of the Framework Agreement, and has begun taking necessary measures to enforce operational control in the model areas, in coordination with the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, according to a plan prepared by the Army command. It noted, however, that full agreement has not yet been reached on the phases of these areas or the subsequent steps.

The command clarified that the Army’s measures included:

- Establishing six fixed checkpoints and 13 observation posts on roads leading to the towns of Zoutar al-Gharbi, Faroun, and Sareea, as well as within these towns.

- Conducting round-the-clock foot and armored patrols.

- Removing, confiscating, and destroying unexploded ordnance and weapons, and preventing the presence of armed groups and unauthorized activities in accordance with Lebanese laws. Specialized military units confiscated approximately 1,818 weapons and ammunition items, including: 10 rocket launchers, 7 rockets, 6 drones, 51 mortars, 10 aerial bombs, and 1,560 small arms ammunition pieces, in addition to a large number of landmines and explosive devices. These units also cleared roads totaling approximately 12 kilometers in length.

The command further explained that, in parallel with operational measures, military units implemented actions to ensure the safe return of residents by clearing rubble, opening roads, and activating civil-military cooperation activities aimed at providing basic necessities to the population. Military units also participated in recovering the bodies of martyrs.

It pointed out that these measures enabled the Army to establish operational control and regulate entry and exit movements within the operational zone.

The Army clarified that, in contrast to its compliance, the Israeli occupation forces have not adhered to the agreement, with violations reaching approximately 7,700 since the signing of the Framework Agreement on June 26 up to the present date. The Israeli occupation also fired near Lebanese Army personnel and patrols.

The command emphasized in its statement that “the cessation of attacks and violations is the fundamental factor for the Army to complete its deployment and carry out its missions in accordance with the Framework Agreement.”
