Syria: Casualties in explosion at weapons and war remnants warehouse in Idlib countryside

Syrian authorities announced that several people were killed and injured in an explosion at a warehouse storing weapons and war remnants in Idlib, marking the second such incident in about ten days. The Idlib Directorate of Health reported that the casualty toll from the explosion of a temporary storage facility for weapons and war debris near the city of Sarmada reached approximately 14 dead and 11 injured, with figures still preliminary. Meanwhile, the Media and Communications Department of the Ministry of Defense stated that the explosion resulted in casualties among ministry workers, and confirmed that it occurred in a temporary warehouse designated for collecting weapons and war remnants prior to their transfer. On his part, the Syrian Civil Defense said the incident was caused by an explosion of ammunition near the Al-Namra area on the Sarmada road in northern Idlib countryside. It confirmed that its teams in the Emergency Directorate and Disaster Management Administration in Idlib Governorate worked to assess the explosion site, verify the situation, and secure the area.
