Cairo - Nadeh Imam: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, confirmed the success of the gas supply system in meeting the needs of electricity generation plants and industrial sectors during the peak period, for the second consecutive year, reflecting the efficiency of the operational system and the integrated efforts of various relevant entities. This came during the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ inspection of the National Natural Gas Network Control Center (“NATCO”) at the headquarters of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (“EGAS”), where he monitored the status of natural gas supplies and the regularity of its pumping to various consumption sectors, primarily electricity generation plants and industrial sectors, and assessed the network system’s readiness to handle consumption demands during the peak of the summer season.

Minister Karim Badawi praised the efficiency and readiness of petroleum sector workers and their continuous efforts to secure local market needs for natural gas and petroleum products. He emphasized that working according to proactive scenarios and the continuous coordination and integration between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy contributed to effectively handling unprecedented surges in energy demand, and providing the necessary supplies to meet record electricity loads exceeding 40,000 megawatts during the summer, while maintaining the stability and regularity of the National Natural Gas Network. This was achieved through advance planning and raising readiness levels for various potential scenarios, enabling rapid response to any changes or emergencies and ensuring the continuity of supplies.

He confirmed that the Ministry continues to implement its plan to secure natural gas supplies until the end of the summer season, with real-time monitoring of production and consumption rates and supply movements, and enhancing the readiness of the national network system to respond immediately to any changes, thereby ensuring the sustainability of gas supplies for various sectors of the country.
