Dina Al-Milhim: New academic talents are a qualitative addition to the university’s journey and its national mission

Dean of Kuwait University, Dr. Dina Muaid Al-Milhim, affirmed that the joining of new academic and academic support staff members to the university represents an addition to its scientific journey and a partnership in continuing its national mission and developing its education and research systems. This came during a welcome address delivered by Dr. Al-Milhim at a meeting organized by Kuwait University, represented by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, under her patronage, to welcome new academic and academic support staff and prepare them to begin their journey at the university with the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, attended by several university leaders.

The university dean stated that the joining of new academic talents marks the beginning of a new phase in their academic and professional careers, and an extension of a national journey carried by generations of academics who contributed their knowledge and dedication to building the university and serving Kuwait. She added that the responsibility of an academic staff member extends beyond knowledge transfer to building students’ capacities and developing their thinking, research, and creativity skills, alongside contributing to knowledge production and directing it toward issues and priorities that serve Kuwait and support its developmental trajectory.

Dr. Al-Milhim clarified that the university places its academic and academic support staff at the core of its efforts to achieve its strategic objectives based on quality, innovation, distinguished presence, and sustainability, thereby enhancing the quality of education and research and consolidating the university’s position and national role. She noted that Kuwait University continues to develop its educational and academic environment and strengthen digital transformation by leveraging modern technologies and expanding the use of digital solutions to keep pace with the requirements of education and research, opening broader spaces for innovation and development.

She emphasized the university’s commitment to strengthening its community partnerships and linking its academic and research expertise with Kuwait’s needs and developmental priorities, alongside building effective partnerships with state institutions and the private sector, and enhancing regional and international cooperation.

The university dean expressed confidence that the expertise and ideas of the new academic and academic support staff will constitute a significant addition to the university and contribute to developing the educational and research experience, opening new fields for cooperation and innovation. She affirmed the university’s pursuit of providing an academic environment that nurtures their aspirations, enabling them to develop their capacities and transform their ideas into achievements whose impact will be reflected on students, the university, and society.

Dr. Al-Milhim welcomed the new members as partners in Kuwait University’s mission and aspirations, and as an extension of a journey of giving that spans nearly 60 years since the university’s establishment, affirming that this journey continues through and with them to serve Kuwait and the future of its generations.

For his part, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Salili, clarified the role of the Academic Affairs Administration in providing administrative services to academic staff and new academic support staff, and outlined the relationship between academic staff members and students and colleagues, as well as with scientific research. Meanwhile, Vice President for Academic Support Services, Dr. Abdullah Al-Mutawa, highlighted the electronic portfolio containing the most important links for academic staff and academic support staff members.

On his part, Vice President for Research, Dr. Abdullah Jwad Sultan, explained aspects of scientific research to new academic and academic support staff, reviewing grant and award programs to support their scientific research careers. In his speech, Acting Dean of Admissions and Registration, Dr. Fadel Aziz, outlined the tasks of the Admissions and Registration Deanship and the teaching loads for humanities and science colleges.

On another note, Assistant Vice President for Planning and Institutional Development, Dr. Dalal Al-Taweel, emphasized the importance of the training program in preparing new academic and academic support staff, and enhancing Kuwait University’s role in innovation, scientific research, and community service.

For her part, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for Academic Development, Dr. Huda Mahmoud, clarified the promotion requirements for new academic and academic support staff and university regulations, as well as the possibility of applying for promotion after fulfilling the required period, and mentioned the conditions for obtaining academic release.
