Council of Ministers: Amendment of Certain Provisions of the Public Tenders Law
The Cabinet, during its meeting chaired by the Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the repeated, despicable Iranian attacks using hostile missiles and drones that targeted several sites in the country. The Council affirmed that these attacks constitute a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty, a direct threat to its security and stability, and a serious escalation that jeopardizes regional security and undermines diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and reducing tensions.
The Cabinet also expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the Houthi militia’s attacks that targeted civilian and economic assets in several cities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It considered these attacks a violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and a serious, unjustified escalation that could undermine regional security and stability. Furthermore, the Cabinet condemned the Houthi militia’s continued targeting of commercial ships in the Red Sea, which poses a direct threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, global energy supplies, and international trade.
The Cabinet expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the despicable Iranian attacks that struck the Kingdom of Bahrain last week, which represent a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a clear breach of the principles of international law. It stressed the necessity of halting these escalatory practices and prioritizing de-escalation, dialogue, and adherence to the principles of good neighborliness.
The Cabinet heard a briefing from Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Al-Ali on recent developments in the region and current military developments in light of the despicable Iranian attacks that the State of Kuwait suffered last week. He affirmed the readiness of the Armed Forces and their continued performance of their duties and responsibilities with efficiency and competence.
The Cabinet approved a draft decree-law amending certain provisions of Law No. 49 of 2016 concerning Public Tenders, with the aim of simplifying procedures and addressing difficulties and issues arising from practical implementation.
The Cabinet also heard a briefing from Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jara Al-Jaber on the political and diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs abroad to keep pace with developments on both the regional and international stages. The Council was informed of the substance of the meeting held last week with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Limpho Tao, and of the telephone conversation held with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
