Gulf Air operates its first flight to Addis Ababa
Jazeera Airways, the leading low-cost carrier in Kuwait, launched its first direct flight from Kuwait to Addis Ababa today (Wednesday), inaugurating its newest African destination and strengthening direct air connectivity between Kuwait and Ethiopia.
A formal ceremony marking the inaugural flight was held at the Jazeera Airways T5 passenger terminal, featuring a ribbon-cutting attended by Dr. Saeed Mohammed Jabr, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the State of Kuwait, and Nasser Fahad Al-Obaid, Chief Executive Officer of Government Affairs and Chief Executive Officer of Jazeera Airways T5, to celebrate the launch of this important new route between the two countries.
Ambassador Dr. Saeed Mohammed Jabr said, “This inaugural flight marks the beginning of a new and significant chapter in the established relations between Ethiopia and Kuwait, as direct air connectivity plays a vital role in bringing countries and societies closer together. We welcome Jazeera Airways’ launch of its new flights to Addis Ababa and believe that this route will contribute to enhancing tourism, trade, cultural exchange, and investments, while providing more convenient and comfortable travel options for the large Ethiopian community in Kuwait. We look forward to the growth of this air link and the opening of new horizons and opportunities for both countries.”
With a community of over 70,000 Ethiopian nationals residing in Kuwait, this new direct route offers them an easy way to travel to their homeland and visit their families and friends. It also opens additional avenues to support tourism, trade, investments, and strengthened ties between the peoples of Kuwait and Ethiopia.
For his part, Paul Carroll, Head of Commercial at Jazeera Airways, said, “The launch of flights to Addis Ababa is a significant milestone for our growing network of destinations, as it represents our first and one of the most important strategic destinations in East Africa.
