Saudi Arabia condemns Houthi attacks and pledges to neutralize threat sources
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its condemnation of the renewed Houthi terrorist attacks on civilian and economic infrastructure, stressing that it will take all necessary operational measures to deter this terrorist militia, confront its hostile approach with firmness, respond to sources of threat, and neutralize the danger they pose.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s strongest condemnation and denunciation of the Houthi terrorist militia’s targeting of civilian and economic sites in the cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan, and Najran, which resulted in the injury of 73 civilians, including women and children. It also highlighted the militia’s continued targeting of commercial vessels in the Red Sea and its threats to international maritime navigation freedom.
In a statement conveyed by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Ministry reiterated its “firm rejection of the hostile and criminal behavior” that this militia has consistently engaged in, threatening the security and stability of the sisterly Republic of Yemen and its Arab and Islamic surroundings, as well as its persistent rejection of all peace efforts.
The Kingdom affirmed its legitimate right to take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty, safeguard its national assets, and ensure the security and safety of its citizens and residents on its territory. It stated that it will not tolerate any attack targeting its land and national assets, in accordance with the rules of international law.
Riyadh warned against the consequences of the Houthi terrorist militia’s continued targeting of innocent civilians and civilian facilities, emphasizing the urgent need for an immediate halt to all forms of escalation carried out by the militia and its ongoing threats to maritime security.
The Kingdom called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216 (2015) and Resolution 2722 (2024).
This statement followed remarks from a senior official in the Ministry of Energy, who confirmed that a number of energy sector facilities and infrastructure in the southern region of the Kingdom were targeted yesterday morning. The official stated that competent authorities have begun addressing the attacks and taking necessary measures.
The source explained that the attacks caused fires at several sites, leading to a temporary suspension of some operational activities. Specialized field teams have begun containing the fires, securing the sites, and assessing the damage. He added that the attacks resulted in varying degrees of injury to citizens and residents, with necessary medical care being provided to the injured. Assessment and follow-up efforts are ongoing.
The source confirmed that competent authorities continue to manage the repercussions of the attacks, taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of facilities and personnel, and to maintain operations in accordance with approved operational plans.
For his part, Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition Forces (the Coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen), stated that “the escalation by the Houthi terrorist militia and its attempts to target the Kingdom, its national assets, citizens, and residents on its territory represent a serious escalation that confirms the hostile and irresponsible approach of this terrorist militia.”
General Al-Maliki clarified that the reckless attacks by the Houthi terrorist militia, the latest of which targeted civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan, and Najran, resulting in the injury of 73 civilians including women and children, constitute a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a direct threat to the security and safety of its citizens and residents. He emphasized that these heinous and unjustified attacks, committed by the Houthi terrorist militia, deliberately aim to damage the Kingdom’s national assets, facilities, and civilian infrastructure, further demonstrating their extremist criminal behavior that rejects peace and stability in Yemen and its Arab and Islamic neighborhood.
General Al-Maliki affirmed that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will take all necessary operational measures to deter this terrorist militia and confront its hostile approach with firmness, in defense of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, safeguarding its national assets, and protecting the safety of its citizens and residents. It will also take all necessary precautions and measures to respond to sources of threat and neutralize their danger.
