Egyptian President and Greek Prime Minister Stress the Need to De-escalate and Restore Regional Stability

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized the importance of the electricity interconnection project between the two countries, describing it as a strategic step toward enhancing energy security. They also reaffirmed their commitment to elevating bilateral trade and investment relations.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that the two sides discussed cooperation in the fields of tourism, transport, labor, and migration, and reviewed opportunities for joint work in telecommunications, information technology, artificial intelligence applications, and entrepreneurship.

The spokesman said President el-Sisi welcomed the Greek Prime Minister’s visit to Egypt, affirming Cairo’s pride in the historical ties between the two countries and its determination to develop them across various fields in a manner that serves the common interests of the two friendly peoples and strengthens the existing strategic partnership between Egypt and Greece.

Ambassador El-Shenawy clarified that the Greek Prime Minister appreciated the hospitality and warm reception, expressing his country’s appreciation for the solid relations with Egypt and praising Egypt’s hosting of the summit meeting within the framework of the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Greece, and Cyprus. He also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation with Egypt, as well as within the trilateral mechanism.

The spokesman noted that the meeting also addressed regional and international developments, with both sides stressing the need to de-escalate tensions and continue coordination to contain instability and restore stability. In this context, President el-Sisi outlined Egypt’s efforts aimed at preserving regional peace and stability, which were appreciated by the Greek Prime Minister.

On another note, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi inaugurated yesterday, at Alamein International Airport, the second edition of the Alamein International Air and Space Exhibition 2026, alongside Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides.
