The American International University Welcomes Over 1,200 New Students During the Orientation Session for Fall 2026-2027

The American International University (AIU) welcomed more than 1,200 new students and over 200 parents during the orientation session and new student orientation program for the Fall 2026-2027 academic year. The event took place over four days on September 1, 2, 3, and 6, 2026, on campus, in preparation for the start of the new academic year on September 9.

The program reflects the university’s commitment to preparing new students for the transition to university life, introducing them to the academic environment, available services, and facilities, while helping them become familiar with the AIU community and the educational and student opportunities they can benefit from throughout their university journey.

The program opened with a welcome address delivered by AIU President Professor Youssef Al-Hayek, who welcomed the new students and their integration into the AIU community. He emphasized that the university stage marks the beginning of a new journey filled with opportunities for learning, growth, and self-discovery. President Al-Hayek encouraged students to make the most of their university years, remain open to new opportunities, build relationships and friendships, participate in campus life, and focus on their academic careers while developing the skills and experiences that will help them achieve their future aspirations.

The program included several informational sessions that provided students with essential information about various aspects of university life, including the Registrar’s Office, Academic Advising, Student Conduct Office, Campus Safety, Information Technology, the Library, and Student Affairs. Students learned about the systems, procedures, and services available, as well as how to access academic and student support throughout their studies.

The program also featured a Resources and Information Fair, which gave students the opportunity to meet representatives from various colleges, schools, departments, and university services, allowing them to learn directly about the available programs and opportunities. Participating academic units included the College of Engineering, the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Architecture and Design, the School of Education, and the Foundation Program, along with several university administrative departments and services.

The Sports Activities Center participated in the fair through a range of activities and interactive booths, introducing students to the sports opportunities and activities offered by the university as part of the campus experience.

The Resources Fair also included participation from several banking and financial institutions, including Wayaya Bank, Boubyan Bank, Kuwait International Bank (KIB), and Kuwait Finance House (KFH), among other participating entities. This provided students with the opportunity to learn about the banking and financial services and options available to them during their university years.

To foster an interactive and enthusiastic atmosphere, the orientation program featured various games, interactive activities, and student sharing stations, along with AIU-branded souvenirs and welcome bags. Student ambassadors and university teams played a key role in welcoming new students, assisting them with navigation across campus, and guiding them to various sessions and events, thereby ensuring a smooth and comfortable experience from the moment of their arrival.

Parents formed an important part of the program, with over 200 parents attending dedicated sessions that covered the academic environment, student services, campus facilities, and support systems available to students. Parents were also given the opportunity to tour the campus and get a closer look at the facilities and environment where their children would spend their university years.

The four-day orientation program reflects AIU’s commitment to providing a comprehensive university experience that begins on day one, preparing new students to confidently integrate into the university community while familiarizing them with the resources, services, and opportunities that support their academic and personal success.

With the conclusion of the program, the university is preparing to welcome its new students as classes begin on September 9, 2026, marking the start of a new chapter in their academic journey at AIU.
