Italy records hottest summer in over 75 years

Italy recorded its hottest summer on record since data collection began in 1950 in 2026, with an average temperature of 24.3 degrees Celsius. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Italy’s National Research Council (CNR) yesterday, stating that last August witnessed a notable rise in temperatures, averaging 25.6 degrees Celsius. According to data from the CNR’s Institute of Biometeorology, the average temperature recorded in August 2026 surpassed previous record levels of 24.6 degrees Celsius in 2024 and 24 degrees Celsius in August 2017. The Council noted that the data indicate 2026 could become the hottest year in Italy since records began in 1950.
