Strong interest in participating in the 5th Bahraini Theatre Festival

The Fifth Bahrain International Theatre Festival is witnessing a notable Arab and international presence, having received more than 40 theatrical performances submitted for participation in the honorary performances program, including four Bahraini productions, during a submission period that lasted approximately two weeks.

Festival director and artist Ali Marhoon said in a press statement that the submissions came from more than 15 Arab and foreign countries, including Gulf Cooperation Council states, as well as Morocco, Algeria, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, and Tunisia, along with Sweden and France.

Marhoon clarified that the artistic committee, chaired by artist Hussein Abdul Ali, will review the submissions and select the performances that fit the available days within the festival schedule, with the final list to be announced in September.

For his part, festival president and artist Adel Shams expressed his delight at the level of interest in the participation window, emphasizing that the number of applications exceeded expectations, particularly since the festival provides only the performance venue for honorary acts, without bearing any other costs.
