Singer Asala launched her new musical album, “The Syrian,” announcing the release on her official Instagram page at the same time the album became available. The project marks her return to presenting a musical work with a distinctive character tied to her homeland, Syria.
Asala took care to share the details and emotions surrounding the album’s release with her audience, revealing the mix of tension and joy she felt upon its launch. She recounted how she left her home and called several of her neighbors to walk with her, before the moments turned into running and celebration after she told them that her Syrian album had been released just minutes earlier.
Asala added that she could barely sit down after the album’s launch, explaining, “Honestly, I didn’t even sit down. I’m writing to you while pacing around the house, and I wanted to check in and make sure everyone is okay. I just want to rest.”
She spoke about the journey of working on the album, emphasizing that it consumed a large portion of her time and thoughts. “This project woke me up from sleep many times. I thought about it, changed things, organized them, added, removed, and fixed them. When I said it was finished, I felt as though I had lived a lifetime with this album. It was a beautiful life; the fatigue was enjoyable, and the late nights brought happiness.”
She noted that during the preparation for the album, she experienced various details and personas, explaining, “Each time, I lived the persona of a Syrian woman from a different governorate. For each of these women, I sketched out details and lived through their lives.”
Asala expressed her hope that the audience would find beautiful memories in the album, saying, “Now this work is in your hands. May you live your most beautiful days with it, and may it become the most cherished memories of tomorrow.”
