1.2 million riyals to support 5 plays in Al-Ahsa

The “STAR” program, under the Performing Arts Commission, continues to support the theatrical movement in the Al-Ahsa Governorate through five stage productions with a total value of 1.2 million Saudi riyals, a move that reflects growing interest in local theatrical production and strengthens the presence of creators and works inspired by the local environment and cultural heritage.

Among the supported works is the family play “Dag al-Tabl Dag,” which drew significant public attention during its performances at the Al-Ahsa Society of Culture and Arts theater, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of the character “Botbilla,” linked to popular memory and the atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan.

The support for the five theatrical productions in Al-Ahsa comes as part of the “STAR” program’s efforts to empower practitioners in the theater and performing arts sector, providing production opportunities that contribute to revitalizing the local theatrical scene and enhancing works connected to Saudi identity and culture. The play was produced by Abdullah bin Hamdah, with production management by Mohammed Al-Mazyadi, featuring a cast of prominent Saudi actors and actresses, and was written by Abdullah Al-Fahid and directed by Abbas Al-Shuweifi.
