"The Blue" trained with 24 players in preparation for "Gulf 27"

Kuwait officials: Our national first team held its first training session yesterday evening at the Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium at Al-Nasr Club, under the guidance of Portuguese coach Helio Sousa, with 24 players present in preparation for Gulf Cup 27, which will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, starting on the 23rd.

Players from Al-Kuwait Club, who are scheduled to face UAE’s Al-Ittihad in the AFC Champions League 2 on the 16th of this month in Abu Dhabi, attended the training but will not be able to join the delegation on its camp in Qatar tomorrow. They will rejoin the national team’s training in Jeddah on the 17th.

Saud Al-Houshan was absent due to personal circumstances, while Rakan Al-Saeed and Abdullah Al-Qarzaei missed the session as they are participating with the youth national team in the Asian Cup qualifiers.

Portuguese national team coach Helio Sousa had previously announced a 27-player squad for Gulf Cup 27 and the friendly match against Yemen on the 18th. The players are: Khaled Al-Rashidi, Saud Al-Houshan, Abdulrahman Al-Fadli, Rakan Al-Saeed, Fahad Al-Hajri, Khaled Sabah, Yousif Al-Haqan, Abdulaziz Naji, Al-Wahab Al-Awadi, Rashid Al-Dosari, Muath Al-Dhafiri, Mohsen Falah, Reza Hani, Ahmed Al-Dhafiri, Khaled Al-Murshed, Jasem Al-Mutairi, Adabi Shahab, Abdullah Al-Qarzaei, Nasser Falah, Mehdi Dashti, Eid Al-Rashidi, Yousif Majed, Mohammed Daham, Mubarak Al-Funayn, Abdullah Al-Awadi, Shuaib Al-Khalidi, and Yousif Nasser.

Our national team has been drawn in Group 1 alongside Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Iraq.

Meanwhile, our Olympic team held its first training session yesterday evening at the Ittihad Stadium under Spanish coach David Doniga, in preparation for the 20th Asian Games, which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, starting on the 19th. The team will depart for Japan tomorrow.

Football competitions will run from the 19th until October 4 next year. The Olympic team is in Group 3 alongside Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

Doniga announced a 23-player squad for the tournament: Dhaari Al-Masri, Abdulrahman Ajaj, Abdulridha Shahab, Hamad Al-Sanousi, Bandar Al-Barazi, Ahmad Boudi, Muntasir Al-Abdulsalam, Ali Hassan, Jasem Al-Anzi, Bandar Al-Salama, Jasem Al-Shamikh, Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Omar Al-Mutairi, Abdullah Fares, Saleh Al-Mahatab, Talal Al-Qaissy, Muath Al-Asim, Eid Al-Azmi, Ahmad Khorshid, Mohammed Al-Sari’i, Fawaz Al-Mubayyish, Nasser Khader, and Mohammed Al-Sharifi.
