The Criminal Security Sector referred an Iraqi national in his forties to the Public Prosecution, following accusations of fraud and managing an investment activity without legal backing or authorization from the competent authorities. This came after he appropriated approximately 25,000 dinars from three citizens under the pretext of investing and trading them in the global stock market.
According to a security source speaking to Al-Anbaa, the three citizens, including a woman, sequentially reported to the Salhiya Police Station, alleging that they had been defrauded by the suspect. They stated that they had handed him money for investment purposes and provided evidence confirming that he had received these funds.
The source added that the case file was referred to the Criminal Investigations Department, where necessary inquiries were conducted, confirming the suspect’s involvement in the case. He was subsequently arrested and subjected to interrogation.
The suspect admitted to receiving the funds with the intention of investing and trading in the global stock market, citing his expertise in the field. However, fluctuations in stock prices and the losses he incurred prevented him from recovering the depositors’ money or returning the amounts, despite his attempts to offset the losses over several months.
The source further stated that after completing the investigations, the suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution, which ordered his detention and imprisonment in the Central Prison, pending his presentation to the judiciary.
