Ethiopian Ambassador: Our wealth and strength lie in our diversity... We call on members of the community to participate in the development process

Osama Diab: The Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the State of Kuwait, Dr. Said Mohammed Jaber, affirmed that the diversity abundant in his country represents a source of richness and strength, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the values of unity, mutual respect, tolerance, and cooperation among the various components of Ethiopian society.

Jaber congratulated the Ethiopian community in Kuwait on the occasion of celebrating “Hibir” Day and the eve of the new Ethiopian year 2019, expressing his wishes that the occasion would bring peace and brotherhood to all.

This came during a speech he delivered at the celebration hosted by the Ethiopian Embassy and its consular offices on this occasion, attended by a number of religious and community leaders, members of the community, and guests.

The Ethiopian ambassador stated that this year’s celebration of “Hibir” Day embodies a vision based on hope and joint efforts to build a more prosperous Ethiopia. He emphasized that his country comprises numerous nationalities, peoples, languages, cultures, and religions, which constitute a national wealth and a source of strength.

He added, “Our diversity is our wealth and our strength. Therefore, by enhancing our shared values, mutual respect, tolerance, and cooperation, we must strengthen our unity.”

Jaber noted that Ethiopia is currently implementing a wide range of development projects and activities across multiple sectors, including the economy, the “Green Legacy” initiative, and corridor development, alongside several other areas. He clarified that these projects are part of continuous efforts to strengthen the national economy, drive development, and build a better Ethiopia, stressing the importance of continuing work to achieve further progress and prosperity.

The ambassador affirmed that Ethiopians and individuals of Ethiopian origin residing abroad constitute an important part of the national development process, calling on them to take advantage of available investment and business opportunities and contribute to supporting the national economy.

He also urged the community to exchange knowledge and expertise, leverage the competencies and human resources available abroad, and channel their financial resources to the country through legal and reliable channels, thereby supporting development efforts. He said, “We Ethiopians and individuals of Ethiopian origin residing abroad also have a role in the development process. Therefore, I invite you to contribute to national development by participating in investment and business opportunities, exchanging our knowledge and expertise, and transferring our financial resources to our homeland through legal and reliable means.”
