Inauguration of the Retina and Vitreous Surgery Unit at Al-Jahra Hospital

Abdulkarim Al-Abdullah The Ministry of Health inaugurated the Retina and Vitreous Surgery Unit at the Ophthalmology Department of Al-Jahra Hospital, coinciding with the successful performance of the hospital’s first precise and complex retinal surgery, marking an important step toward developing and expanding ophthalmology and eye surgery services in the State of Kuwait.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Fudari, Chairman of the Ophthalmology Departments Council at the Ministry of Health, affirmed that the launch of the unit completes the Council’s vision to provide a comprehensive range of therapeutic and specialized services in ophthalmology and eye surgery across all regions of the country, enhancing the geographical distribution of specialized services to facilitate patient access and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare provided.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Attiya successfully performed the first precise retinal surgery at Al-Jahra Hospital, signaling the commencement of retina and vitreous surgery services at the facility, as part of efforts to bring specialized medical services closer to patients and reduce the need to refer cases to other hospitals.

Dr. Al-Fudari praised the medical and organizational efforts undertaken by Dr. Hussein Al-Ansari, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Al-Jahra Hospital, in preparing for the unit’s launch and equipping the department to deliver this type of precise specialized surgery.

He also commended the support and cooperation of Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Shamari, Head of the Medical Staff at Al-Jahra Hospital, and his contribution to overcoming obstacles and facilitating the necessary procedures to initiate the unit’s operations, underscoring the importance of integration between medical administration and specialized departments in enhancing the level of services provided to patients.
