Qabazard wins doubles gold at the Hurghada International Professional Tennis Championship

Kuwait’s national tennis star Eisa Qabazard secured first place and the gold medal in doubles alongside his Indian partner Rohan Mehta at the Hurghada International Professional Tennis Championship, which concluded yesterday in the Egyptian city of Hurghada. The tournament featured a distinguished field of professional tennis players from 14 countries. Qabazard and Mehta continued their winning streak by defeating the pair of Indian player Aryan Lakshmanan and his Italian partner Lorenzo Lorusso in the final, winning in straight sets.

In their path to the title, Qabazard and Mehta defeated the Italian duo of Gabriele Thomas Brancatelli and Alberto Moroli in the first round, also in straight sets. In the quarterfinals, they advanced after their opponents, Russian player Ivan Gritsitski and Turkish player Kerem Yilmaz, withdrew. In the semifinals, they overcame the pair of Irish player Cuan Gannon and Italian player Giulio Perigotto, winning two sets to one.

Tennis Federation President Abdulridha Al-Gharib expressed his delight at this major international achievement, describing it as historic. He congratulated Kuwait’s champion Eisa Qabazard on his significant accomplishment, wishing him and his teammates success in future competitions and further achievements for Kuwait.

Al-Gharib dedicated this major international achievement to the political leadership, the Kuwaiti government, and the esteemed Kuwaiti people, adding that this success imposes greater responsibility on him, the federation’s board of directors, and its administrative and technical staff to make further efforts to elevate the sport and achieve more successes.

Al-Gharib extended his gratitude to the General Authority for Youth and Sports for its continuous support of national team players’ participation in important international tournaments, as well as for supporting the federation’s internal activities. He also expressed special thanks to the federation’s honorary president, Mohammed Jassem Al-Marzouq, for his unlimited support of tennis.

Furthermore, he thanked the Rafa Nadal Academy Kuwait and Al-Tamdeen Sports Company for mobilizing all resources to provide professional training conditions for Kuwait’s national tennis team players across all age categories.
