Latest data from the Central Bank of Kuwait showed that cash balances, accounts, bonds, certificates of deposit, treasury bills, and foreign currency deposits reached 8.41 billion dinars by the end of August 2026, compared to 8.98 billion dinars at the end of July 2026.
Total assets of the Central Bank of Kuwait, according to the account statement as of the end of August 31, stood at approximately 8.6 billion dinars. Deposits, current accounts, and loans to local banks and financial institutions in Kuwaiti dinars amounted to 80.2 million dinars by the end of August, compared to no recorded balance for this item at the end of July. Other assets totaled 160.2 million dinars, an increase of 2.1 million dinars from the 158.1 million dinars recorded at the end of July.
The value of gold within the Central Bank of Kuwait’s assets was recorded at 31.7 million dinars by the end of August, compared to 31.8 million dinars at the end of July, a difference of 100,000 dinars. Meanwhile, local bonds in Kuwaiti dinars and public debt instruments remained at zero for both months.
On the liabilities side, the General Reserve Fund stood at 1.9437 billion dinars by the end of August, stable at the level recorded at the end of July. Fiscal year profits remained stable at 399.3 million dinars, and fully paid-up capital stood at 5 million dinars.
The volume of currency in circulation was 1.979 billion dinars by the end of August, compared to 2.024 billion dinars at the end of July, a difference of 45 million dinars. Government accounts at the bank recorded 1.276 billion dinars, compared to 1.379 billion dinars.
Accounts and deposits of local banks at the Central Bank of Kuwait amounted to 2.495 billion dinars by the end of August, compared to 2.7274 billion dinars at the end of July, a difference of 231.8 million dinars. Insurance against letters of credit stood at 103.3 million dinars, compared to 104.1 million dinars, a difference of 800,000 dinars.
Conversely, liabilities toward international institutions rose to 54.5 million dinars by the end of August, compared to 46.4 million dinars at the end of July, an increase of 8.1 million dinars, or 17.45%. The special account remained stable at 95.2 million dinars, and Central Bank of Kuwait bonds remained at zero.
Other liabilities amounted to 336.4 million dinars by the end of August, compared to 452.4 million dinars at the end of July, a difference of 116 million dinars. Total liabilities reached 8.6891 billion dinars, equaling total assets at the end of the month.
Regulatory accounts stood at 7.24 billion dinars by the end of August, compared to 7.14 billion dinars at the end of July, a monthly increase of 94.3 million dinars, representing 1.31%.
