Opportunities for Kuwaiti Business Owners in the Kingdom of Lesotho

The Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry received, last Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Limpho Tao, and his accompanying delegation, with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Kuwait, Mantabising Fohleli, in attendance.

In a press statement, the Chamber emphasized its interest in strengthening economic relations between the two friendly countries, highlighting the deep ties uniting Kuwait and Lesotho. It expressed its readiness to make every effort and mobilize its capabilities to organize business meetings, host exhibitions for national products, and disseminate information on commercial and investment opportunities and Lesotho’s investment law, all aimed at increasing the volume of trade and investment partnerships between the two friendly nations.

For his part, the Minister expressed his gratitude to the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry for the warm reception, reaffirming his interest in developing the existing economic relations between the two countries. He noted that there is a timely opportunity for Kuwaiti businesspeople to collaborate with their counterparts in the Kingdom of Lesotho and to explore and discuss the possibility of establishing investment projects in various sectors, including mining and precious stones, textiles and apparel, wool and luxury mohair, food and agricultural products, livestock and poultry, as well as the tourism sector.

He also touched upon Lesotho’s abundant water resources, noting that the country is known as the “water tower of southern Africa” due to its high altitudes and large water volumes, which enable it to engage in hydropower generation. He stressed that major countries are interested in entering into large-scale projects in this field, and called on the Kuwaiti business sector to participate in these projects and take advantage of the opportunities available in Lesotho.
