Ministry of Electricity: Conversion of 605,000 KODI meters to SIM card system following issuance of reconciliation certificates to their owners

Cairo – Hanaa El-Sayed: Mahmoud Esamat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, stressed the need to expedite the procedures for converting the accounting system for prepaid meters issued to owners who have received approval certificates for utility connection, ensuring the continuity of the billing process and facilitating procedures for citizens.

The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy stated in a press release that this directive came during a meeting between the minister and the heads of electricity distribution companies. It noted that the total number of prepaid meters targeted for conversion to legal meters, whose owners have received reconciliation certificates, amounts to 1.2 million meters. It added that, so far, 605,000 meters have been converted to legal meters, representing approximately 46.8% of the total targeted number.
