"Education": Opening of 50 schools in rural Idlib coinciding with the new academic year

Syrian Minister of Education Mohammad Abdul Rahman Turkoo stated that 50 schools in the countryside of Idlib were opened in conjunction with the start of the new academic year, noting that this was the result of fruitful cooperation between the governorate, the local community, and the Ministry of Education.

Minister Turkoo clarified that the number of schools opened in Idlib since the end of 2024 until now has reached 650, adding that emphasis has been placed on repairing schools in the devastated southern countryside of Idlib following the return of residents from camps, according to the Syrian official news agency, SANA.

In this context, Jamal Al-Shahoud, a member of the Executive Office for the Educational Sector in Idlib Governorate, highlighted the governorate’s attention to rehabilitating schools damaged by the regime’s crimes, pointing to support for the education sector in the governorate and the provision of necessary staff for the newly opened schools.

Al-Shahoud noted in a press statement that the number of students in the 50 recently opened schools reaches 300, adding that they will begin operations during the new academic year after their educational and administrative staff have been prepared.

He indicated that approximately 46 schools are currently under construction, noting that they are scheduled to be ready within a month.
