Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Signs Grant Agreement to Contribute to the Reconstruction of Berya School in Syria

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) signed, remotely, a grant agreement to contribute to the reconstruction of the Berya school in the Khan al-Shikh camp in the Syrian Arab Republic, thereby supporting the continuity of educational services provided to Palestine refugees. The grant agreement was signed on behalf of UNRWA by Acting Commissioner-General Christian Saunders, and on behalf of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development by Acting Director-General Rashid Ali Al-Bader. The Kuwait Fund’s contribution to the project amounts to US$2.5 million, to support the reconstruction of the school, equip its facilities, and develop the associated infrastructure. On this occasion, Acting Director-General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Rashid Ali Al-Bader, stated that the signing of this agreement reflects the steadfast commitment of the State of Kuwait to supporting its Palestinian brothers, and stems from its conviction that education is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for building a sustainable future. For his part, Acting Commissioner-General of UNRWA, Christian Saunders, expressed his deep gratitude to the Government of Kuwait and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for their generous support of Palestine refugees through UNRWA.
