Trump: Tuesday's attack on Iran was very violent... and we are ready to launch another strike at any time we wish

US President Donald Trump confirmed on Wednesday that the attack launched by US forces against Iran on Tuesday was “very violent.” Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said, “We delivered a strong strike against them last night… a very strong one. They carried out a light, provocative strike, but we responded last night with a very powerful strike and destroyed all the new equipment they had tried to build along the Strait of Hormuz, whether defensive or offensive.” He added, “They were trying to track ships because they were unable to see them. As you know, we are withdrawing many ships (from the region), and they cannot see them because they lack radar, as we destroyed it. In fact, last night we destroyed far more than just their radars.” He emphasized that “it was a very violent attack… and we are ready to launch another attack at any time we choose.”

Regarding the possibility of renewed anti-regime protests in Iran, the US president stressed that “the (Iranian) regime is growing weaker day by day… and there will come a time when they will no longer be able to shoot at (protesters) with such ease.”

Earlier on Tuesday evening, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of a wave of strikes it had begun earlier that day against Iranian military targets. In a statement, CENTCOM said the new wave of strikes targeted sites belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including air defense centers, radar systems, naval assets and facilities, mine-laying capabilities, and communication sites. It added that these strikes came in response to “recent offensive attempts by the IRGC against commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and against US personnel.”
