The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the Iranian aggressive attack that targeted the Saudi tanker “Sadra” as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in the deaths of several crew members.
In a statement on Wednesday, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this attack constitutes a serious threat to the safety and security of international navigation and represents a dangerous escalation aimed at undermining the security and stability of one of the world’s most vital waterways.
The UAE expressed its full solidarity with its sister state, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming its support for all measures aimed at protecting the security and safety of its vessels and national interests, and ensuring freedom of navigation in national and international waters.
The ministry emphasized that this aggression constitutes a blatant violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which underscored the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and rejected the targeting of commercial vessels or the disruption of international maritime routes.
It affirmed that targeting commercial navigation or using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for pressure or economic coercion is an unacceptable act that poses a direct threat to regional stability, global energy security, and the safety of international trade.
