Citizen Accused of Insulting Security Officers and Damaging a Patrol Vehicle

Ahmad Khamis: A man in his thirties was detained at the Jalib Police Station, by order of the investigator, and a sample was taken from him to verify the substance under whose influence he was, in preparation for referring him to the judiciary on charges of driving a vehicle in an abnormal state, insulting security personnel, and damaging state property.

A security source told Al-Anbaa that a patrol suspected the manner in which a four-wheel-drive vehicle was being driven in the Jalib area. After stopping it, it became apparent that the driver was in an abnormal state, and he was accompanied by his father and younger brother.

The source added that security officers asked the driver to hand over the vehicle to his father and board the patrol car, but he proceeded to insult the officers and showed strong resistance, necessitating their difficult control of him and escorting him to the patrol vehicle.

While inside the patrol car, he deliberately caused damage to it. The investigator examined the patrol car and confirmed the damages sustained.

The accused faces three charges, including driving in an abnormal state, which is an offense punishable by imprisonment and confiscation of the vehicle, and insulting security personnel, which carries a penalty of imprisonment or a fine of up to 2,000 dinars, in addition to damaging state property.
