Al-Khaleej Concludes Summer Training Program for University Students

As part of Gulf Bank’s ongoing commitment to developing national talent and empowering youth to acquire practical experience that prepares them for the labor market, the bank concluded its annual summer training program for university students, held from August 9 to 27, 2026, in partnership with Kuwait Achieve.

Participants engaged in an intensive three-week training program that included practical courses across various bank departments, including Treasury, Risk Management, Retail Banking, Customer Service, Marketing, and Corporate Communications. The program provided them with a close-up view of how a modern financial institution operates through its operational and strategic functions.

Designed to go beyond the traditional observation-based training model, the program introduced students to the fundamentals of financial markets, risk assessment, customer experience, retail banking products, marketing strategies, corporate communications, and the role of digital channels in enhancing customer engagement with banks today.

Through rotational training across different departments, participants acquired practical skills in areas such as problem-solving, communication, teamwork, customer understanding, analytical thinking, and professional decision-making, alongside a clearer understanding of how various banking functions integrate to serve customers and support the national economy.

The program also gave students the opportunity to better identify the skills required in the workplace and to determine their potential career paths within the financial sector. Gulf Bank aims, by linking academic education with practical challenges, to empower young people to enter the labor market with greater confidence, deeper professional awareness, and a practical understanding of employer expectations.

At the same time, the program provided the bank with an important opportunity to directly hear the views of the new generation, including their fresh insights, evolving expectations, and perceptions regarding how young people interact with brands, technology, financial services, and digital platforms. Their observations can contribute to the development of the bank’s youth-oriented products, communication strategies, and digital customer experiences, ensuring that Gulf Bank continues to meet the needs and aspirations of new generations.

This exchange is particularly significant given the growing influence of younger generations in shaping the future of the banking sector. Their expectations regarding simplicity, speed, personalization, digital accessibility, and user experience are driving financial institutions to redesign their products and services. Therefore, engaging young people early not only enhances competency development but also fosters innovation and reinforces a more customer-centric approach within the bank.
