US Secretary of State: We will target everything that threatens our forces and global navigation in Hormuz

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio reiterated his country’s firm stance against allowing Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. In press remarks, Rubio stated that Iran had continued to attack ships, particularly commercial vessels, in the Strait of Hormuz, and had lost control of the waterway. He added, “We will target anything that threatens our forces and global navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and the strait will remain open and will not fall under Iranian control.” Regarding the memorandum of understanding signed with the Iranian side, Rubio said it had expired and that “the Iranian regime will remain under pressure to prevent it from accessing the funds it uses to finance terrorism.”
