Driving Without a License, Under the Influence of Drugs, Racing and Overtaking, Using a Mobile Phone: Offenses Requiring Detention

A traffic source stated that vehicle impoundment measures are applied to violations for which the Traffic Law and its implementing regulations and decisions stipulate impoundment, the most prominent of which include: driving with a suspended or no license; driving under the influence of alcoholic beverages or drugs; operating a vehicle in a manner that endangers the lives or property of others; conducting races or unauthorized traffic gatherings; using a vehicle for purposes other than those for which it is licensed; as well as certain overtaking and speeding violations, serious offenses, and violations related to illegal lane changes and using a handheld mobile phone while driving, all of which result in impoundment in accordance with approved regulations.
