Bahrain and Japan discuss economic, trade, and investment cooperation and developments in the global economy

Bahraini Minister of Finance and National Economy Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa met with Japanese Minister of State for Economy, Trade and Industry Kenji Yamada in Manama to discuss avenues for economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, as well as developments in the global economy.

Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported that during the meeting, Sheikh Salman bin Khalifa emphasized the mutual commitment and interest in developing and broadening bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Japan across all fields, underpinned by the agreements and distinctive partnership shared by both nations, which yield benefits and prosperity for the two countries and their peoples. He also praised the deep and close ties between Bahrain and Japan, which have contributed to fruitful cooperation in various fields, particularly in economic, trade, and investment sectors.

He highlighted the importance of continuing to build on achievements in joint work and coordination to further develop Bahrain-Japanese relations and advance them toward greater progress and prosperity, thereby realizing shared goals and aspirations. The meeting also discussed promising investment opportunities and reviewed several issues of mutual interest.

In a related development, BNA reported that Bahrain’s Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Minister of Oil and Environment, Dr. Mohammed bin Deneen, held talks with Yamada on ways to enhance cooperation in the energy sector and review available investment opportunities in this field.

Dr. bin Deneen praised the close relations and growing partnership between Bahrain and Japan, noting the progress achieved in recent years in several areas. He stressed the importance of continuing to build on the progress made in cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two countries, particularly in the fields of energy and related technologies.

Both sides reviewed global changes in the energy sector and the accompanying transformations in energy production and consumption systems, emphasizing the importance of expanding the use of innovation and modern technologies to improve system efficiency and enhance sustainability.

For his part, Japanese Minister of State for Economy, Trade and Industry Kenji Yamada commended the Kingdom of Bahrain’s progress in developing its energy sector, reaffirming his country’s commitment to further expanding cooperation and elevating the prospects of partnership between the two nations.
