Egyptian President Receives Chinese Counterpart at Cairo Airport at Start of Official Visit

Cairo – Khadija Hamouda: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, who arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for an official visit. In a statement, Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, said that the welcome ceremony at Cairo International Airport was marked by warmth, with a group of children and youth holding Egyptian and Chinese flags to salute the visiting president. The spokesperson added that a number of Egyptian and Chinese citizens gathered to express their feelings of friendship and welcome toward President Xi Jinping, in a scene that embodies the deep historical ties between the two friendly peoples. The visit comes within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and China across various political, economic, and developmental fields, as well as following up on the implementation of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement signed between the two countries in 2014, in addition to consultations on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
