The Ministry of Interior announced today, Tuesday, its readiness to launch a comprehensive security awareness campaign under the slogan “Protection and Safety,” coinciding with the start of the new academic year. The campaign aims to raise awareness and security culture, and to instill preventive behaviors among members of society.
In a press statement issued by the ministry, Director General of the General Administration of Security Relations and Media, Brigadier General Nasser Bousleib, stated that the “Protection and Safety” campaign is part of the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to enhance prevention and raise security and community awareness across various segments. The campaign will run throughout the academic year according to an integrated schedule.
Brigadier General Bousleib added that the campaign relies on diverse media and awareness tools, alongside direct communication with students, parents, educational staff, and the public. The goal is to reinforce safe behaviors and transform awareness messages into daily practices that contribute to individual protection and the enhancement of community security.
The statement noted that the campaign is built on six core pillars, selected based on their importance and associated indicators and awareness needs. Each pillar features independent content and an awareness program tailored to the target age group, aiming to improve individual awareness in security matters and strengthen the relationship between security institutions and society, ultimately achieving the highest levels of awareness and prevention.
He clarified that the campaign’s pillars will be implemented according to a schedule spanning the entire academic year, utilizing the latest print, audio, and digital media, as well as creative methods in collaboration with official media outlets and social media platforms, to ensure reach to all members of society.
The campaign includes a range of activities and events targeting all segments, including direct meetings, lectures, and workshops with students, parents, and educational staff, coordinated with relevant authorities.
The campaign emphasizes educating students and drivers about the importance of road safety for pedestrians, drivers, and their companions. It stresses the necessity of wearing seat belts, crossing roads safely, and following guidelines that ensure everyone’s safety, alongside comprehensive awareness of the new Traffic Law.
Regarding the pillar on juvenile affairs, the statement explained that the Juvenile Protection Law outlines the rights and responsibilities of juveniles and their families. Therefore, this pillar focuses on the importance of a sound family structure, family cohesion, continuous monitoring of children, and protecting them from violence and exploitation.
On the pillar concerning drug prevention, the ministry stated that the campaign focuses on preventing first-time experimentation and informing students and families about the risks of narcotics, methods of seduction, and peer pressure. It underscores the importance of family dialogue, early detection, seeking treatment, and comprehensive awareness of the legal aspects related to the new Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
The campaign also stresses the need to raise awareness about protecting personal data, combating phishing, fraud, and extortion, and informing the public about the Electronic Crimes Law.
Furthermore, the campaign emphasizes safeguarding society against extremist ideas and hate speech, reinforcing moderation and national belonging, encouraging verification of information from official sources, and promoting environmental awareness as a shared national and community responsibility to preserve public facilities in the country.
