New King of Norway Haakon VIII Takes the Oath of Office Before Parliament

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway took the constitutional oath before the parliament, succeeding his father, King Harald V, who died last Friday at the age of 89.

The 35-year-old King Haakon said, “I pledge to govern the Kingdom of Norway in accordance with its constitution and laws.”
